Stitch Details
The soft cluster stitch crochet pattern is a lovely combination of single crochet, chains and double crochet clusters.
The end result is alternate rows of pretty clusters and little ‘v’ stitches.
Use this modern stitch pattern in your own design projects for making projects like blankets, hats or cowls. I used a similar stitch pattern in my Heather Berry Cowl.
I think this pretty crochet stitch pattern would also work really well as a panel or stripe within a larger project such as a sweater or shawl.
Additional details for using this stitch pattern in your own makes:
- Starting chain has to be a multiple of 2
- The stitch pattern is not reversible
- The pattern is a two row repeat
The Yarn
I used the affordable, wool / acrylic mix yarn Lion Brand Wool Ease in the shade Fisherman.
My reasons for choosing this yarn were:
- It’s a medium weight (worsted) yarn which means it crochets up quickly but isn’t too thick to see the stitches. It’s a good starting yarn to practice with as you can then imagine what the stitch pattern might look like using a thicker or thinner yarn.
- Good stitch definition to see how the pattern looks and it’s also easy to see where to place your hook. Using a neutral shade also makes the stitches even easier to see.
- In addition, it’s affordable and very easy to find.
- Lots of both modern and traditional colours to choose from.
The pattern includes some substitute yarn recommendations or you could use yarnsub.com to help you find an alternative.
