Inspiration & Design
This trivet was the fourth and final design from my obsession with these hexagon motifs.
I say it’s the final design but I can’t absolutely promise to never make anything else using this solid hexagon pattern. They’re surprisingly addictive once you start making them!
To make sure that this trivet was thick enough to protect a work surface I used the same yarn but held double. If you’re new to crochet, this might seem like a strange phrase. It just means that you use two strands of yarn to crochet with instead of one.
Easy Crochet
Firstly, like the Moon Shadow Blanket, this is another crochet home decor pattern that uses simple crochet stitches. As a result, this makes it a great beginner crochet project. I’ve even included a little cheat sheet photo tutorial to help with the stitch placement instructions. Just in case you aren’t familiar with some of the terms used when crocheting in the round.
Quick Crochet
Secondly, this is a super fast crochet project to complete. Six rounds of crochet and you’re done!
Gifts
Finally, I think this trivet would make a great gift. Paired with a casserole dish, a recipe book or even with the rest of the Collection. Great for new home presents especially!
The Yarn
I used the popular Lily Sugar’n Cream yarn for this project. Perfect for a simple modern crochet trivet.
This 100% cotton yarn is natural, soft and absorbent. It’s a worsted / aran weight and comes in a wide range of shades. I’ve picked some of my favourites below.
Above all it’s long-lasting, washable and absorbant. So it really is perfect for lots of different cotton crochet projects.
I chose Soft Ecru for this collection which is on the very top left.
The pattern includes some substitute yarn recommendations or you could use yarnsub.com to help you find an alternative.
